What is APDF?

THE ARCHDIOCESAN PASTORAL DEVELOPMENT FUND (APDF) is the annual contribution by every parish in the Archdiocese of Kuching to finance the pastoral programmes and activities undertaken by the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council (APC). The APC comprises of 4 Commissions, 3 Committees and the 12 Parish Councils in our Archdiocese.

The total running costs for the APC is budgeted at RM158,000 each year and the APDF is meant to cover the expenses of the 4 Commissions and 3 Committees of the APC as well as their administrative office.

Annual APDF Target for Parishes

To achieve RM158,000 annually for the APDF, each of the 12 parishes under the Archdiocese is given a targeted sum to contribute as follows:

How to Contribute?

Contributions can be made:

  1. Through a second collection during Mass which is fixed by the parish; or
  2. by using the APDF white donation envelopes which are available in all parishes. The donation envelops may be returned through the Sunday collection bags or handed in directly to the Parish Office/the Parish Priest or the Archbishop’s Office. Cheque donation is to be made payable to “The Archbishop of Kuching“.

Activities & Programmes of the Four Commissions of the APC

1. Commission for YOUTH
Formation courses for full time youth workers. Formation for students, youth and campus ministry: Kuching Archdiocesan Youth Day (KAYD), KAYA discipleship formation, Kuching Young Christian Students (KYCS) in schools, Campus Ministry, seminars, office facilities, etc.

2. Commission for MISSION & HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
Promote Mission awareness, distribute Love-Offering Boxes for children to participate in Mission and for ‘Children to help Children’ from Mission Sunday to Epiphany, co-ordinate ALPHA programs (English, Chinese & BM) in parishes, collaborate with the other churches for Kuching Christmas Parade, collaborate with Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP) & Catholic Welfare Service (CWS) in the area of human development for the poor and needy.

The Archdiocesan Migrant Ministry provides pastoral care and outreach to those working far from their countries and homes through activities like giving of Sacraments, faith formation, catechesis, fellowship gatherings among many others.

3. Commission for BIBLE & FAITH FORMATION
Procure the Malaysian Catechetical Series (MCS) books for Sunday Schools, organize courses and seminars for religion teachers, organizing and coordinating faith formation programs for the laity, Bible Course for the laity, support Bible translation, etc.

4. Commission for CHRISTIAN FAMILY LIFE
Promote holy and wholesome families in service of God and men through courses, talks, conferences, workshops and seminars in developing healthy relationships, teaching parents on bringing up children, encouraging good marriages and helping singles and the aged.

ACTIVITIES & PROGRAMMES OF THREE COMMITTEES OF THE APC

5. Committee for SOCIAL COMMUNICATIONS
Publishing the Today’s Catholic monthly, which aims at information, formation and transformation, maintain Kuching Archdiocesan website www.kuchingcatholic.org, promote the use of all forms of media (print, internet, audio visuals) to communicate the gospel values.

6. Committee for VOCATIONS TO THE PRIESTLY & RELIGIOUS LIFE (Vocation Team)
Promote priestly & religious vocations through exhibition, talks, retreats, vocation camps, visits to seminary, friary, religious houses, etc.

7. Committee for PASTORAL CARE GIVER
Promote mental wellness through public talks, retreats, training for Para-counsellors and Pastoral Care givers, running of the Counselling Centre, training courses, seminars for para-counsellors and building of other resources (books, videos, etc).

Your generous contributions will help finance all the pastoral & outreach ministries by the commissions/committees of the APC as listed above.
