Bible Course for the Laity

The Bible Course for the Laity is a course drawn up by the Regional Biblical Commission of the Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia-Singapore-Brunei. It aims to give participants:

  1. An opportunity to encounter Jesus in the Gospel
  2. Basic but sound knowledge of salvation history
  3. Understanding of the Bible as God’s Word to his people
  4. Basic knowledge of the formation of the Bible and introduction to historical-critical study of the Bible
  5. Guidance in applying the fruit of their study to their lives.

There are 12 modules, and takes about three years to complete (for a complete cycle).

Module 12: Book of Revelation

Revelation, through the use of apocalyptic genre (expression / literature) highlights the ultimate victory of God. The symbols and language used in the book will be explained to help participants to come to gripes with the author’s (John) message. The notes (handout) will lead students phrase by phrase behind the “scenes” of the Book of Revelation. The presenter will explain the overall situation of the Church c.95D and the steps John takes to give message of hope to the followers of Christ.
